MERCEDES-BENZ BUCKHEAD AND FOOTIE MOB PARTNER TO PROVIDE TWO MERCEDES-BENZ VANS FOR SOCCER IN THE STREETS

Unique partnership eliminates transportation hurdle in providing access
to soccer and life-skill development programs in Atlanta

Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead announced today that it has partnered with Footie Mob, an Atlanta United FC recognized supporters group, to provide two Mercedes-Benz vans for Soccer in the Streets, a non-profit organization that empowers underserved youth through sports-based training, character development, mentoring, and employability programs. The Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead vans will be available to Soccer in the Streets at no cost and on an as-needed basis.

“I was not familiar with Soccer in the Streets until Footie Mob approached us regarding the non-profit organization,” said Jewelian Griffith, Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead Director of Marketing. “After learning about how they impact the community, I immediately wanted to become involved. As the official vehicle for Atlanta United along with participating in our own adult soccer league through TYSA, it makes sense to why we should be a part of this amazing opportunity. We are excited for what is to come and help improve kids’ lives not only through Soccer in the Streets, but a gateway to endless possibilities to serve the community”

“Being able to connect more and different types of partners in our work with Soccer in the Streets is allowing us to overcome the challenges that their youth athletes are facing,” said Jeremy Martinez, Footie Mob Board Member and Philanthropy Committee Chair. “Each community partner has access to different resources that can be brought together to collectively achieve more good than if we worked solo. Footie Mob is excited to continue to provide new, interesting, and relevant solutions with our partners to develop a next generation of home grown soccer stars.”

“To be the beneficiary of this partnership is truly inspiring,” said Phil Hill, Executive Director of Soccer in the Streets. “Transportation is one of the critical hurdles in providing access to our free programming to the 28 communities that we work with throughout Atlanta. Public transportation does not reach all of the areas throughout the city, and this hinders our youth from being able to participate. Having Mercedes-Benz Buckhead and Footie Mob team up to eliminate this hurdle allows us to continue to focus on providing soccer and life-skills programs to the youth throughout our city.”

The two Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead vans were unveiled to the public on Saturday, June 29 at the Footie Mob tailgate outside Mercedes-Benz Stadium prior to the Atlanta United match against the Montreal Impact.

The Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead vans will also be on display on Tuesday, July 2 at the Peachtree Health and Fitness Expo at the Georgia World Congress Center in preparation for the annual Peachtree Road Race.

As a community leader, Footie Mob will continue to raise funds that will directly support Soccer in the Streets and it will continue to  engage partnerships that will advance its philanthropic responsibilities.
